Strategies To Fight Low-Cost Rivals, These entities have only three options either to attack, coexist uneasily or become low-cost players themselves. None of the above is easy but with the right framework or strategy is most likely to work. When a low cost player enter your industry.....

Q: Will this company take away any of your present or future customers?
If Yes, then don't launch a price war, increase the differentiation of your services/products by using a combination of tactics. If No, watch but do not take on the new rival.
Q: Are sufficient of consumers willing to pay more for the services or products you offer?
If Yes, Intensify differentiation by offering more benefits. Over time restructure your company to reduce the price of the benefits you offer. If No, learn to live with a smaller company. if possible merge with or take over rivals.
Q: If you set up a low cost business will it generate synergies with existing business?
If Yes, attack your low-cost rival by setting up a low cost business in a low Tax jurisdiction (i.e Cyprus) or transfer your existing European company register office* in a low Tax Jurisdiction(i.e Cyprus). If No, switch to selling solutions or transform your company into a low-cost player.

* Cyprus has passed a national law according to the the Statue for a European Company (SE) which enables companies to transfer the registered office of a company in and/or out of Cyprus. More information in our next edition.....
